And now for something different in the exercise world. Steven Smith has drawn on his diverse experience with yoga, martial arts and other types of movement, and has started teaching classes at MMCC.
These classes will develop essential elements of your wellbeing, including balance, breathing, strength, stability, and overall capability.
Steven says: "We will develop your awareness of how your body moves, and give you some simple things to incorporate into your daily life. Little things like balancing on one foot while you boil the kettle or brush your teeth, or maintaining the strength of your grip - these all add up. The classes won't use any props or equipment."
"The movements are adaptable to different capabilities and levels of intensity, with an emphasis on slow, deliberate movement. You will learn to pace yourself."
"Some of the movements are named after birds and animals, which also makes them easier to remember."
Most classes are $15, with the longer Sunday class $20. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, or a folded towel will make do as a knee pad.
